Recently Inglot held a makeup workshop @ their store in Dubai Mall. Jon Hennessey a makeup artist who has been in the industry for 20 years now, had flown down specially for the event and taught the eager audience about how to execute a perfect look starting from foundation, then to achieving a great look for the eyes, progressing to doing a day and night look and finally ending of with the dazzling ‘glamorous’ look.
I had sat in on the last session as I’m always excited to learn how to further glam up my looks to get the red carpet effect. Seated at the front, I got an up close view of it all the session lasted a little over the hour and by the end, Inglot had organized certificates of participation and a goodie bags (product reviews on these will be coming soon!) for all the attendants.
Lucky for all of you I will be giving you a step-by-step run down of how Jon did the glam look. He was an absolute pleasure to be acquainted with and has lots of tricks that we can use to achieve a flawless makeup application.
All of the products used to achieve this look were used from the Inglot line, however, feel free to use any products you may already have. Let’s get started, shall we?
Step 1 of Glam Look: Begin by using a primer gel on your face, apply this with a brush and focus the gel on the T-zone of your face. This preps your skin and creates a good starting point to begin applying foundation.
Step 2 of Glam Look: While you let your primer set, use a small brush to begin applying a creamy skin coloured primer to your eyes, focusing on going from the base of the lid all the way to the brow bone.
Step 3 of Glam Look: Now that your face primer is set, use a duo fiber brush and chose an appropriate foundation shade. Ideally chose a shade that is a colour between your face and neck. Begin picking up the product with the brush and start buffing on your skin, this will give you a flawless complexion.
Step 4 of Glam Look: Chose a soft blending brush to begin blending the foundation around the nose, lips and eye area.
Step 5 of Glam Look: Chose a lighter foundation shade to highlight. Working in circular motions focus the product on the highs of your cheeks, near the jawline, on the bridge of the nose, at the arch of your eyebrows and of course, the cupid’s bow.
Step 6 of Glam Look: Use a translucent and light shaded powder to set all the creams and liquids you just applied.
Step 7 of Glam Look: Use a soft brown powder and begin adding this to the crease of your eye. Do this in upward motions so it creates a natural lifting effect. Apply the same under the eye and work to blend it out so you have no harsh lines.
Step 8 of Glam Look: To fill in your eyebrows, use a slightly lighter shade than your hair and work that into the eyebrows gradually. Once you are happy with what it looks like, using a gel liner of the same colour, outline your eyebrows and neatly blend it into the hair.
Step 9 of Glam Look: Using an easy-to-blend black cream eye shadow, apply this to either ends of your eye lid and underneath the eye. Using a blending brush, buff out the lines to create a smokey effect with depth. Using a black kohl pencil, add more dimension by applying this to your waterline.
Step 10 of Glam Look: Using a shimmery lighter vanilla shade, focus the colour on the center of the eye lid. Then once again, blend! blend! blend!
Step 11 of Glam Look: With a fan brush, apply your mascara. Work the product heavily into the base of your upper and lower lashes. Once done, find a nice pair of false lashes and glue those in place. Using a black shadow, work to conceal the lash band. Skip the last step, if you are applying eyeliner.
Step 12 of Glam Look: Moving onto lips, Jon used a lip liner to heavily line and define. He worked with a brush to blend that the dark pink colour and then topped it off with a loose rose pigment, which assists in absorbing any additional moisture from the lip and gives it a more matte like finish.
Until we rendezvous again,
