Located in the Emirates Towers, the Divalicious event hosted a huge array of asian brands. The sheer variety of the event was over whelming as there were hundreds of stalls and vendors that were promoting their brands and labels at this extravaganza. Now, I don’t particularly enjoy many exhibitions because they usually host the same monotonous collections, however Divalicious 2013 however took me by surprise. A very pleasant surprise!
For all the foodaholics out there, I had found a gem that had exhibited amongst the swamp of exhibitors. Under the name of ‘Chocolate Mithai’ this dare devil has attempted to do what no other has. Delicately packed gulab jamuns covered in milky chocolate or pedas covered in white chocolate was just the beginning for them. Custom modelled cakes, pops and angelic cupcakes were beautifully decorated across their table, while I sampled one of their cupcakes my eyes kept darting across the other sweet goods. MY GOD, their desserts just melted in your mouth.
For all the hair and makeup fans, I discovered an interesting stall there. Their collection of makeup hosted several brands that you just can not find here. Everything from cream blushes, to gold dusted highlighters and eye shadow quads were available for purchase. Even though I am extremely particular about my makeup style, the owner managed to entice me in for a quick demo on the classic smokey eye. After seeing the completed look, I was not overly convinced, shadows were not well blended together and overall the final look did not really suit my style, but considering the makeup artist only had about 10 minutes to do it, she did a fairly decent job.
For all the fashion fans, I like most of you I LOVE to shop as well. I got back from a massive shopping spree just last night and am still ready for more. Going back to Divalicious, I came across a great collection of indian attires, unable to resist I plucked out a delicate grey embellished indian churidar from the racks. Priced at a 1000 Dhs, this gem was a must have for my Diwali wardrobe. The cut and detailing was a unique design that encompassed all the flair I desired. Although the event had reached its closing time that vendors took their time to address my specific fitting and finishing concerns. After taking measurements and thorough notes, they took my dress back to their store for alterations. This still with them and as soon as I get this, pictures will definitely be uploaded.
What was a welcomed changed was seeing all the international participation at this event. Brands came in not only from India and its neighbour Pakistan but also from the far reaches of Turkey. Although majority of the exhibits features asian attire, jewellery, foods and decor, hundreds of people across several cultural backgrounds, including Canadians, Americans, Emirati Locals flocked to the stalls to find hidden gems amongst the racks of clothing and shelves of cosmetics and home decor.
They really did put the DIVA in Divalicious!
